Stoneham restaurant reopens after Jan. 29 kitchen fire.
reopened last Friday after nearly a week of clean-up following a kitchen fire that occurred on Jan. 29.
Just days after they reopened, the bar was jammed with a lunchtime crowd and several groups scattered around the dining room enjoying a meal. There was no sign of fire damage thanks to a thorough cleanup effort and repairs led by the restaurant's owners. The kitchen, the site of the fire, bustled and gleamed as the staff prepared for the day's service.
"It's like everything is new in here," said co-owner Fred Puorro. "Everything damaged was replaced and the entire restaurant was cleaned: the ductwork, the carpets, everything. They even vacuumed the flowers."

"There was extensive damage in the kitchen, and smoke damage in the restaurant."
A specialized team of up to 14 workers cleaned nearly around the clock between Sunday and Friday morning to finish repairs.
The Puorros are also appreciative of the support they received from the community.
"I was fielding 100 or 200 calls a day from regulars and people who are concerned," Paul Puorro said.
A bartender, employed at Felicia's, noted the fire shortly after closing and immediately notified 911. Puorro credits this, and an outstanding response from the Stoneham Fire Department, for containing the fire and limiting damage.
The cause of the fire, despite investigation, is unknown.
