Five Things You Need to Know Today: March 23

1. Calm before the storm? The National Weather Service's forecast for Stoneham calls for a mostly cloudy day, with about a 30 percent chance of precipitation. Daytime temperatures aren't expected to exceed 41 degrees, while rain may start after 5 p.m. Nighttime temperatures may dip to about 32 degrees, with rain possibly changing to snow after 10 p.m. One to two inches of snow accumulation is possible.

2. Easing the pain: Amy Lord of Mystic Valley Elder Services is expected to talk with seniors about the various ways to manage chronic illnesses from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Stoneham Senior Center, 136 Elm St.

3. Church activity: All Saints Episcopal Church, 79 Central St., is hosting a free "Soup and Spirituality" event from 6:45-9 p.m. For more information or to register for the interactive Lenten program, call 781-438-2775.
