Former Stoneham Standout Has New Gig

Jack Belcher is the new football coach at Woburn High.

The Woburn Tanners finally have a replacement for Rocky Nelson. And they expect this one to stick around.

Former Stoneham standout and Bedford football coach Jack Belcher has accepted the position of Woburn football coach.

Belcher knows his football. He was drafted by the Rams in 1983, after his time at Boston College playing center for Doug Flutie, but never played in the NFL. He was an elite lineman at Stoneham in the 1970s, enshrined in the Stoneham High Hall of Fame in 2008. You can read his Hall of Fame bio here.

Nelson led Woburn High for more than three decades. Chris Nugai was hired in February but lasted only two days before resigning "due to personal reasons," Woburn Principal Jessica Callanan said.
