Free Admission At Stone Zoo On MLK Day

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr., Zoo New England drops admission Monday, Jan. 15.

If you're looking for something to do on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, leave your wallet home and head over to Stone Zoo.

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Franklin Park Zoo and Stone Zoo will offer free admission on Monday, Jan.15. At Franklin Park Zoo, guests are invited to write messages of hope and peace on the mural that will be located within the Tropical Forest Pavilion. This is a great opportunity to spend a memorable day with family and friends while learning about fascinating wildlife from all over the world.

Stone Zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The last admission to the zoo is at 3:30 p.m.

Looking ahead, on Sat., Jan. 20, come to Stone Zoo as Black bears Smoky and Bubba celebrate their 12th birthday with guests invited to join in on the festivities. The bear exhibit will be decorated for the occasion and the brothers will enjoy birthday treats just for them. There will also be something sweet for guests, who can enjoy a slice of birthday cake (available for the first 200 people, first-come, first-served).

Stop by the exhibit to meet the zookeepers and ask questions, and be sure to sign Smoky and Bubba’s giant birthday card. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
