With GamePair, Stoneham High Students Win Mock “Shark Tank"
Economics students pitched business ideas to members of the StonehamBank senior management.

A release from StonehamBank:
STONEHAM, Ma – StonehamBank teamed up with Kurt von Sneidern’s economics class at Stoneham High School to have a mock Shark Tank. Students teamed up in pairs to create a business or product of their choice and present it to the “sharks,” which was StonehamBank’s Senior Management.
The students made PowerPoints, videos, financial statements and more for their products, which included a tattoo removal serum and sweat-wicking shirts. The winner of Shark Tank was Ross Blauvelt and Julio Santana’s idea called “GamePair,” which was a software that matched video game players with people who played the game at their own level, as opposed to being matched up with others who have more or less skills.

“Ross and Julio’s idea was impressive, but what really got us was their professionalism and their ability to present their idea,” Edward Doherty, CEO of StonehamBank, says. “Although GamePair won us over, every student shared their products with ease and had a lot of passion for their project. I think I speak for both parties when I say we all had a lot of fun. The future is bright for these kids.”
StonehamBank’s “sharks” included SVP of Residential Lending Shane Bellavance, CFO Nancy Coyle, Chairman of the Board Janice Houghton, CEO Edward Doherty, and President Paul Totino. The sharks “invested” $450,000 towards GamePair, and Ross and Julio also received $250 Amazon Gift Cards. The four other students, Samuel Labossiere, Fedrick Blemur, Greta Hall, and David Levine got $50 Amazon gift cards.
