How Close Was Race For Lt. Governor? Is 934 To 934 Close?

With a 24 percent turnout, Stoneham voters support Geoff Diehl in Senate race.

Almost 24 percent of Stoneham's registered voters turned out for Tuesday's state primary, casting votes in support of Jay Gonzalez as the Democratic nominee for Governor, and ending the Lt. Governor race in a dead tie.

Stoneham had 3,863 voters turn out from the 16,197 registered voters, which is 23.85 percent. To those who didn't vote because they felt their vote wouldn't matter, there are two candidates who would disagree. In the Democratic race for Lieutenant Governor, both Jimmy Tingle and Quentin Palfrey finished with 934 votes. There were 578 blank ballots.

In other races, Gonzalez edged Bob Massie with 1,013 votes to 829 in the race for Governor. In the Secretary of State race, William Galvin won easily in Stoneham over Josh Zakim with Galvin getting 1,751 votes to Zakim's 592.

In the race for State Senate, Stoneham voters supported incumbent Jason Lewis by a margin of 1,629 votes to Samantha Hammar's 690.

The race for District Attorney was close with incumbent Marian Ryan winning with 1,155 votes to Donna Patalano's 1,027 votes.

On the Republican side, Geoff Diehl won the support of Stoneham voters in the race for the Senate, getting 730 votes to John Kingston's 416. Beth Joyce Lindstrom was third with 159 votes.

Governor Charlie Baker won in Stoneham, beating challenger Scott Lively, 822 votes to 521. In the race for attorney general, Stoneham voters supported James McMahon (599) over Daniel Shores (431).
