HOW WOMEN LED THE WAY FOR FREEDOM
On Wednesday evening, March 22, at 7 p.m., local author Ben Jacques will tell stories of the courageous women of Stoneham, who in 1838 formed the Female Anti-Slavery Society. He will also read passages from Rev. William’s Whitcomb’s fiery sermon in 1850 denouncing the Fugitive Slave Act. All are welcome to the presentation, held at the First Congregational Church in Stoneham.
