Kafi Sanders to Emcee MLK Celebration Jan. 21

Former Stoneham student returns to lead holiday program

Growing up in Stoneham, Kafi N. Sanders loved going to the Boys & Girls Club. Now a research scientist in New York, Ms. Sanders will return on Jan. 21 to emcee the 19th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration.

Daughter of the MLK Celebration founder, Dr. Cheryl Sanders, Ms. Sanders has fond memories of the club, and often took part in the annual MLK programs, first at Town Hall, then at the B&GC in Stoneham.

The theme of this year’s program is inclusion, following Dr. King’s belief that all persons are welcome and have a part to play in building “the beloved community,” including immigrants and those seeking asylum.
