Legislative Delegation Announces Road Safety Grant for Stoneham
Stoneham Police Department receives $36,087 grant for traffic safety initiatives.

BOSTON—State Senator Jason Lewis and State Representative Michael Day are pleased to announce that the Stoneham Police Department received a $36,087 Municipal Road Safety grant, administered by the state’s Executive Office of Grants and Research, with funding awarded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
This grant will be used to help improve safety on local roadways through traffic safety initiatives such as crosswalk and hands-free driving enforcement.
“Pedestrian and road safety is one of the top concerns I hear from my constituents,” said State Senator Jason Lewis. “I’m grateful to the Stoneham Police Department for proactively working to identify areas of concern and working diligently to keep pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers safe in Stoneham.”

"Ensuring our police officers have the tools they need to address local traffic issues is critical to keeping our residents safe," said State Representative Michael Day. "I applaud Chief O'Connor and the members of the Stoneham Police Department for pursuing these funds, and I look forward to working with my colleagues, both in the Legislature and in our town offices, to continue bringing more state and federal funds home to Stoneham."
