Stoneham, MA – Your window to “talk to the future” is quickly closing, as the new Stoneham School Building Committee (SSBC) and Time Capsule working group prepare final submissions and collect journals containing messages from so many of our Stoneham residents.
While we cannot reveal the already approved items chosen for the capsule (…don’t want to spoil the surprise !!!), the three journals have been all over town at meetings, town buildings, town events and directly to some of our community leaders past and present for signing since September 2023.
“While all of our work on this new building has been a labor of love, planning the time capsule has truly been a fun experience,” says SSBC Co-Chair Marie Christie, who also chairs the working group. “We have collected some really interesting items that we think will wow future residents when the capsule is opened. Working group members include SSBC members Marie Christie, Jeanne E. Craigie, Nicole Nial, Lisa Gallagher, Josephine Thompson, Sharon Iovanni, Superintendent David Ljungberg, SHS Principal Bryan Lombardi, Assistant Superintendent Kathy Martin, Historical Society members Pauline “Bee” Russo and Donna Weiss, and Julie Leduc and Sarah Traniello from Symmes Maini & McKee Associates.
There will be one last opportunity to sign the journals at the Stoneham Chamber of Commerce Health & Wellness Fair on Saturday April 6th, 2024 from 11am – 2pm at Stoneham Town Hall, thanks Megan Day and Erin Kennedy. If you would like to send well wishes to the future before the books are wrapped and placed in the capsule, stop by and sign your family name and perhaps a message. The Capsule will be opened at least 50 years into our future... 2074!
