The only candidate putting affordability first!

As a Stoneham resident who has watched costs climb year after year, I want to thank George Georgountzos for finally saying what so many of us have been feeling: Stoneham is becoming unaffordable, and we cannot keep treating taxpayers like an endless source of revenue.

In just a few short years, we’ve seen a debt exclusion, an override, rising water and sewer rates, and a “temporary” trash fee that somehow keeps increasing. Families are cutting back, seniors are worried about staying in their homes, and small businesses are struggling — yet town leadership continues to insist there are “no savings to be found.” That answer is unacceptable.

George is the only candidate willing to speak plainly about the financial pressure residents are under. He understands that affordability isn’t a talking point — it’s the difference between staying in Stoneham and being forced out. He’s right to call for responsible management, consolidation where it makes sense, and a return to the kind of smart decisions that once saved this town millions.

A decade ago, Stoneham proved it could control costs by joining the GIC and modernizing water meters. Those choices didn’t hurt services; they protected taxpayers. We need that mindset again, not another round of overrides and fees.
George is offering a path that respects the people who pay the bills. He’s focused on stretching every dollar, embracing technology, and making Stoneham more business‑friendly so we can grow our tax base instead of squeezing residents.

On April 7th, I’ll be voting for George Georgountzos because he is the only candidate putting affordability first — and that’s exactly what Stoneham needs right now.
