PHOTOS: Winter Concert a Hit at Stoneham High School

Roughly four dozen people turned out to see the Stoneham High School Winter Concert Thursday night in the Auditorium.

The concert featured the Spartan Chorale, Chamber Chorus, Concert Band and the Intermediate and Advanced Jazz Bands.

Jazzin' Up the Joint

The Intermediate Jazz Band performed "Steppin' Out With My Baby" by Irving Berlin, "Chitlins Con Carne" by Kenny Burrell and "Milestones" by Miles Davis.

Meanwhile, the Advanced Jazz Band performed "Bunko" by Lennie Niehaus, "Ho-Ba-La-La" by Joao Gilberto and "Cherokee" by Ray Noble.

The Jazz ensemble is comprised of:

Sing Us a Song

The Spartan Chorale sang a handful of songs, including "Alleluia" by Ed Harris, "The Nightingale" by Felix Mendelssohn, "Don't Stop Believin'" arrangement by Roger Emerson, "The Gartan Mother's Lullaby" arrangement by Neil Ginsberg and choral selections from "West Side Story" by Bernstein/Sondheim.

Concert Band Strikes a Chord With Crowd

The Concert Band was the final act of the show, playing notable songs such as "Strike Up The Band" by George Gershwin with arrangement by Balent, "Marche Militaire" by Franz Schubert with arrangement by Harnsberger, "Celtic Air And Dance No. 3" by Traditional with arrangement by Sweeney, "Troika" from "Lieutenant Kije" by Sergei Prokofiev with arrangement by Lavendar, selections from "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" by condutor John Williams and Alexandre Desplat with arrangement by Story and "Proud Mary" by John Fogerty with arrangement by Vinton.
