Police Log: Stoneham Officers Search for Man Accused of Showing a Handgun, Demanding Xanax from Resident

Dec. 16

@2:40 p.m.: Police stopped a teen driver for using their cell phone while traveling on Franklin Street. A written warning was issued.

@7:09 p.m.: Police respond to the Pond Street and Woodland Road area on a report of a two-car accident. State Police were notified. One person transported to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

@7:31 p.m.: A person visited the Police Station to report a lost or stolen firearm. The person claimed the gun was either lost or stolen in Peabody or Stoneham. The gun was entered as stolen into the NCIC.

Dec. 17

@2:47 p.m.: Police called to the area of Main Street and Stonehill Drive on a report of a two-car accident with unknown injures. State Police notified. Two people declined medical transport.

@4:22 p.m.: Police respond to Main Street for a report of a two-car crash. Four people refused medical treatment and no injuries reported. Stoneham Towing called to remove one car.

@6:28 p.m.: Police respond to the area of Montvale Avenue and Mountain View Drive on a report of a motor vehicle crash. Stoneham Towing notified. No one was transported to a hospital for further medical treatment.

Dec. 18

@2:32 p.m.: Police called to a Duncklee Avenue apartment on a report of a man who knocked on the resident's front door and when they answered, the man allegedly forced the door open and showed a handgun before requesting Xanax. The resident didn't have any Xanax and the suspect, described as a thin white man in his 40s wearing a light blue hooded sweatshirt and jeans, fled the scene. No arrest to report.

@7:09 a.m.: Police called to Phillips Road for a report of a water break in the roadway. Water was reportedly coming out of the ground in the roadway in front of a house. DPW was notified and handled the issue.

@11:41 a.m.: Police called to the Bellevue Road and Converse Street on a report. Two trucks were allegedly racing in the area. Report was unfounded.

@12:09 p.m.: Police respond to the area of Franklin Street and Rustic Road for a two-car crash. One person declined medical treatment.

@10:17 p.m.: Police respond to an alarm sounding at a Main Street apartment. Smoke from cooking in the oven triggered the alarm. No fire problem reported.
