Police Log: Stoneham Man Accused of Reckless Driving in Motor Vehicle Crash

On Dec. 24 at 2:40 p.m., Stoneham Police were called to the area of Elm Street and William Street on a report of a motor vehicle accident. One patient refused treatment, while another person was taken to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. Two vehicles were towed. At 3:01 p.m., Michael Caswell, 22, of 79 Spring St., Stoneham, was arrested and charged with failing to stop or yield, speeding, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation for his alleged actions during the crash.

@9:01 a.m.: Police called to Brookbridge Road on a report of two envelops and a cell phone found in the area. The items were returned to the owner.
@12:42 p.m.: Police respond to Manison Street for a report of a chain cut to a business yard. However, nothing was reportedly stolen.

@5:28 p.m.: Police called to Green Street following a box alarm activation on a report of an overn fire. Burnt plastic in the oven was the culprit. The room was vented and the site cleared by 5:41 p.m.
@6:58 p.m.: Police respond to Cedar Street on a report of a found wallet. The wallet was turned into an officer.
Dec. 25
@8:14 a.m.: Police responded to Lynn Fells Parkway on a report of a motor vehicle parked the wrong way in a drive-thru. The driver reportedly fell asleep. Arrangements were made for the driver to get home.
Dec. 26
@12:07 a.m.: Police called to the area of Pond Street and Woodland Road for a report of a motor vehicle crash. A vehicle on scene had a flat tire. No injuries reported.
@6:34 p.m.: Police respond to Stoneham Gulf on Main Street on a report of larceny. A customer allegedly pumped gas on Dec. 25 but failed to pay for it on Dec. 26 as promised. A summons was to follow.
Dec. 27
@7:58 a.m.: Police called to Main Street following a box alarm activiation for burnt food in an apartment. The scene was cleared and the box recalled at 8:30 a.m.
@12:26 p.m.: Police respond to Pleasant Street for a report of a vehicular hit and run. Police to investigate.
@2:14 p.m.: Police called to Montvale Avenue on a report of a motor vehicle accident. No injuries reported. Two vehicles towed from the scene.
@4:29 p.m.: Police respond to Everett Street for a report of an over fire. The scene was cleared shortly after the box alarm activation.
@10:20 p.m.: Police called to Kenwood Avenue on a report of a couch in the roadway. The situation was resolved.
Dec. 28
@10:27 a.m.: Police called to West Street on a report of a motor vehicle accident. One person was transported to Lahey Hospital, and one vehicle towed. A summons was to follow for one of the drivers.
@11:53 p.m.: Police respond to North Street for a motor vehicle crash. No injuries or tows reported.
Dec. 29
@12:17 a.m.: Police called to Franklin Street on a report of a lost or stolen purse. Police to investigate.
@11:17 a.m.: Police respond to Central Street for a report of a vandalism done to a man's vehicle. Police to investigate.
@12:11 p.m.: Police called to China Moon for a report of a hypodermic needle found in the parking lot. Needle was recovered and disposed of at the police station.
Dec. 30
@1:55 p.m.: Police called to a Waterhouse Road home for a report of a smell of oil in the house. Fire Department to investigate.
@3:18 p.m.: Police caught Comcast working on a public way on Governor Road with no police detail. Worker has been warned multiple times. Police to investigate.
@4:01 p.m.: Police respond to Montvale Mobil after receiving a report from a woman that while she was putting air into her tires, her purse went missing. Police to investigate.
@5:30 p.m.: Police called to Main Street on a report of a two-car accident. No injuries reported, and vehicles were towed from scene.
Dec. 31
@12:23 p.m.: Police called to Main Street for a report of a minor motor vehicle accident. Papers exchanged between both parties prior to an officer's arrival.
@3:33 p.m.: A man visited the police station to drop off a wallet he found on the ground. The owner of the wallet retrieved it from the station.
@6:31 p.m.: Police called to Cedar Avenue on a report of a sewage backup. DPW was notified of the problem and responded.
