POLICE LOG: Two Men Allegedly Involved with Stealing a Woman's Purse at Walgreens

At 9:39 p.m. Jan. 27, Police called to on Main Street for a report of a stolen purse. Two men allegedly involved, with one stealing the woman's purse before fleeing in a red Ford Explorer driven by the second man. The suspects were last seen on Elm Street heading toward William Street. The suspect's license plate is unknown. The alleged thief is described as a white man in his twenties, wearing a brown jacket, blue sweatshirt and a blue hat. A be-on-the-lookout was put out to nearby police departments; however, no arrests were reportedly made.

@11:37 a.m.: Police respond to Main Street on a report of a motor vehicle accident with possible entrapment. Two vehicles were towed, and Action Ambulance transported two to Winchester Hospital.

@5:15 p.m.: Police called to Main Street on a report of a sewer backing up into a man's home. DPW notified.

@9:38 p.m.: Police called to Main Street and Montvale Avenue on a report of a hit-and-run. The victim stated his motor vehicle was truck by another vehicle that fled the scene. A summons was sought by police.

@11:40 p.m.: Police respond to a domestic at a Chase Road residence. Robert Thorner, 46, of 3 Chase Road, Stoneham, was arrested and charged with assault and malicious or wanton damage of property.

Jan. 24

@3:55 p.m.: Police called to the area of North Street and Sherwood Road on a report of a hypodermic needle found on the ground. The item was retrieved and disposed of properly.

@8:20 a.m.: Police respond to North Street on a report of a motor vehicle crash. Two people refused medical treatment. No injuries reported.

@10:29 a.m.: Police called to on a report of a person allegedly trying to use counterfeit currency. Police to investigate.

@11:46 a.m.: Police respond to Main Street on a report of a past hit-and-run. The victim told police her vehicle was struck by an unknown vehicle. Police to investigate.

@1:48 p.m.: Police respond to the area of Cedar Avenue and Chestnut Street on a report of a hypodermic needle found on the ground. The item was retrieved and disposed of properly.

@4:40 p.m.: Police called to the area of Fallon Road and Park Street on a report of a motor vehicle accident. No injuries reported. Drivers exchanged paperwork.

Jan. 27

@8:49 a.m.: Police respond to Route 93 northbound near the Exit 36 off-ramp  for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Three people refused medical transport.

@3:15 p.m.: Police called to Main Street Auto on a report of a car that struck a fuel delivery truck. No injuries reported.

@3:44 p.m.: Police called to Stop & Shop on a report of a man allegedly tried to use a counterfeit $100 bill. Police to investigate.

@5:13 p.m.: A person visited the Police Station to report a man allegedly kicking a dog in the area of Green Street and Patrick Circle. The animal control officer was notified and a report taken.

@8:04 p.m.: Police respond to Route 93 nortbound near Exits 35 and 36 on a report of a motor vehicle crash. One person transported to Winchester Hospital.

@9:25 p.m.: Police called to Pond Street on a report of a breaking and entering in progress. Homeowner returned home to find bedroom was ransacked, and the victim was unsure if anyone was inside the home. No arrest made. Police to investigate.

Jan. 28

@8:53 a.m.: Police called to Rodgers Road on a report of a hit-and-run of a motor vehicle. The male victim's car was reportedly struck sometime after 8 p.m. Jan. 27. Police to investigate.

@10:59 a.m.: Police called to a Main Street apartment on a report of a checkbook that was stolen. Police to investigate.

@12:03 p.m.: Police respond to Bow Street on a report of a package that was stolen on Jan. 11. Police to investigate.

@5:50 p.m.: Police respond to a motor vehicle fire on Route 93 northbound in the area of Exits 35 and 36. Medford Fire reportedly extinguished the fully involved fire. Car was towed from the scene. No injuries reported.

Jan. 29

@7:59 p.m.: Police respond to Central Street for reports of kids putting toilet paper on a vehicle. No damage was done to the vehicle, and no arrests made.

Jan. 30

@7:42 a.m.: Police respond to the area of Main Street and Montvale Avenue for a report of a motor vehicle accident with personal injury. Two people were transported to Winchester Hospital, and two cars towed from the scene.

@1:30 p.m.: Police respond to William Street on a report of a motor vehicle hitting a pole. One person refused medical treatment, while another was transported to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. Verizon notified because a box on the pole opened due to the impact of crash.

@1:42 p.m.: Police called to a Franklin Street apartment complex on a report of a man stuck in an elevator on the first floor. The man was set free and management was notified of the problem.

@4:36 p.m.: Police called to Mardin Lane on a report of past vandalism to a motor vehicle. A report was taken.

@6:36 p.m.: Police called to Central Street in front of the on a report of a motor vehicle fire. Fire extinguished. Stoneham Towing was notified, and a DPW callman also was notified so they could sand in front of the fire house due to water on the ground.

@9:38 p.m.: Police respond to Eastern Body Works on Main Street for a report of the store's door window being broken. A report was taken.

Jan. 31

@8:37 a.m.: Police called to Main Street on a report of a stolen vehicle. Owner last saw the vehicle around 4 p.m. Jan. 30. The vehicle, a 2005 white Nissan Ultima, was , the afternoon of Jan. 31. Owner notified the car recovered.

@12:58 p.m.: Police respond to a Franklin Street apartment complex for a report of a person trapped in an elevator. Management to be notified of problem.

@6:24 p.m.: Police called to Central Street and Elm Street area on reports of a minor motor vehicle crash involving a black Mercedes and a white Hyundai. No injuries report. An officer assisted with the paper exchange.
