Police: Tanning Salon Robber Matches Description of DB Mart Suspect

The description of a suspect involved in an armed robbery Tuesday night at a Main Street convenience store may be the same person that robbed a Montvale Avenue tanning salon Thursday evening in Stoneham, according to police.

At 8:12 p.m. Thursday, Stoneham Police responded to Sunset Tanning, 62 Montvale Ave., for a report of an armed robbery, according to Detective Christopher Dalis.

"(The) suspect approached (the) female clerk, brandished a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded (the) cash drawer," Dalis said, adding that the "suspect fled on foot toward the parking lot." The suspect stole an undisclosed amount of cash, according to police.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-8 white man in his mid-20s with a Boston accent and a thin build, wearing a black ski mask with openings around the eyes, a dark-colored hoodie with white lettering and black gloves, according to Dalis. 

The suspect in the tanning salon armed robbery matches the description given following an armed robbery Tuesday night at the DB Mart convenience store located at 427 Main St. The robber, who pointed a black handgun at the store clerk, made off with a "significant amount" of cash, according to Dalis.

No one was injured during either robbery, according to police.

With two armed robberies occurring in less than a week, Dalis said, "We have increased uniformed patrols in the area and detectives are conducting surveillance in the area when available. We are also working closely with area NEMLEC (North Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council) detectives."
