The owner of the vehicle told WCVB that she was about 30 yards away from her car, a 2012 Honda Civic, when she attempted to open her trunk remotely and the explosion occurred. The woman, a nurse at Winchester Hospital, told the news station that she did not have oxygen tanks or anything else flamable in the vehicle.

A vehicle exploded in the BJ's Wholesale Club parking lot at about 3:45 p.m. this afternoon, according to police scanner reports.
The initial reports stated that the explosion may have been caused by an oxygen tank in the vehicle’s trunk. The “entire vehicle” exploded though, according to the reports.
The Massachusetts State Police bomb squad is responding to the scene at 85 Cedar St.
