Robin Hood visit by author/diversity expert Vanessa Newton

Robin Hood PTO wishes to acknowledge the support of the Stoneham Cultural Council for a previous enrichment program. Vanessa Brantley Newton (https://www.vanessabrantleynewton.com/) is an author/illustrator of several books (such as Grandma's Purse and Just Like Me) and a diversity expert & storyteller.

In 2021, she gave a virtual presentation on diversity, read some of her poems and had an interactive Q&A session with 1st-4th grade students. She even did an art project online with the students, showing them how to make “scrap people” – out of any little bits of paper they can find. It was a great way for kids to be inspired by and connect with an author in a time when in-person visits were not possible.
