Ianniciello became interested in Latin after talking to his friends that had taken the language previously.
“I realized that if I was able to learn Latin, I would be able to learn more about people from civilizations long ago,” Ianniciello said.

Daniel McNeil, Ianniciello's Latin teacher at Stoneham High School, was an influence on Ianniciello’s learning over the past few years.
“I attribute my success to him,” Ianniciello said. “He put in a lot of hard work to make sure that everyone could really understand and appreciate Latin.”
Ianniciello took the exam with 20 to 25 other students from Stoneham High as well—as every other Latin student across the country—and winning this award gave him a strong feeling of accomplishment.
“All year long we had prepared for the exam in class and by getting the award it made me feel as if all the hard work had finally paid off,” Ianniciello said.
