Salvatore Giliberto Passes Away
Born in Augusta, Sicily, Giliberto moved to Stoneham in 2005.

Salvatore Giliberto of Stoneham passed away on Monday, Oct. 15 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 91 years of age.
Born in Augusta, Sicily on February 5, 1927, Salvatore is the son of the late Vincenzo and Domenica Giliberto. Salvatore is a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Salvatore grew up in Augusta and at the age of 18, he joined the Italian Marines and traveled the world. In 1950, he settled in Barinas, Venezuela and began a long career as a construction developer. In 1960, he married his wife Rosa and they had daughters Domenica and Neli. In 1970, Salvatore and his family moved to Boston, where they had their third daughter Sandra and raised their family. Salvatore was an active member of the Bricklayer Union Local 3 and the National Association of Italian Marines. Upon retirement in 1996, Salvatore and his wife moved to Boca Raton, Florida. In 2005, Salvatore and Rosa called Stoneham home.

Salvatore had an adventurous and fulfilling life. He was an extremely hard worker and very intelligent, speaking three languages and was very much in tuned with current political events around the world. Salvatore had a passion for food, especially seafood, good bread also known as Nono's bread and a sweet tooth for chocolate. Salvatore's greatest joy came from his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather that will be greatly missed.
Salvatore is the beloved husband for 58 years of Rosa Giliberto, a devoted father to three daughters and two sons-in-law: Domenica DiVirgilio and her husband Phil DiVirgilio, Sandra Giliberto Callahan and her husband Matthew Callahan and the late Neli Giliberto. Salvatore is the cherished grandfather of Tania Quinn, Lisa and Nicholas DiVirgilio and Chloe, Brooke and Matthew Callahan. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews both here in the United States and Italy. He is also survived by one brother Costantino Giliberto.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) Stoneham, Saturday, Oct. 20th at 8 am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Salvatore's Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 9 am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family on Friday, Oct. 19th from 4-8 pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and elevator are available. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery, Stoneham.
