Select Board Cruises Through Quiet Agenda
Board votes in support of safety and National Grid workers locked out in contract dispute.

A quiet summer night produced a quick Select Board Meeting Tuesday in Stoneham. But in the 90-minute session, work was done.
The board gave conditional approval to Steven Cicatelli to extend his site plan development at 41 Pleasant and 22 Gould for two additional years. Cicatelli's current agreement is still in effect but construction has yet to begin, mainly because of utility permitting issues. Cicatelli is meeting with the Conservation Committee on Aug. 28 and should that go well, he'll get his extension.
The board approved Stoneham Democratic Town Committee Election Officers August Niewenhous, Megan Day, and Ellen McBride.

Mindy Pontone was appointed to fill an opening on the Historical Commission.
Joe Cincata appeared before the board on behalf of National Grid workers locked out in the current contract dispute. Cincata appeared before the Reading Select Board last week and has appeared before numerous town boards asking for a vote in support of a moratorium on new replacement gas line permits because of safety concerns. The board agreed, gave Cincata his wish, and will send a letter to National Grid expressing those same safety concerns.
After a quick presentation by Town Planner Erin Wortman, the board allowed the owners of Ceramica to add a dash of color to their sign, which should be up soon next to The Stones in downtown.
