Every Wednesday, we'll research and post family-oriented and kid-friendly events for the days leading up to and including the weekend, because you've got enough on your plate. Check us out each week for a selection of the best things to do and places to go, both around town and a hop, skip, and a jump away.

FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

  • StoryTime For Ages 3 1/2-Plus
    • Where/When: , 431 Main St., Stoneham on March 3 from 10:30-11:45 a.m. in the Children's Room.
    • Why go: Children can play with simple crafts and listen to some fun stories as part of the program.
    • Pricing: Free.
  • Playful Paws Playgroup
    • Where/When: Stone Zoo, 149 Pond St., Stoneham on March 4 from 10:15-11 a.m.
    • Why go: Children ages 18 months to 3 years old, with accompanying adults, can attend this educational program to learn about animals through observing and touching. Other activities that may be part of the session are storytimes, simple crafts and animal encounters.
    • Pricing: $8 for members, $10 non-members.
  • Mother Goose Lapsit
    • Where/When: , 64 Middlesex Ave., Reading on March 2 from 10:15-10:45 a.m. in the Conference Room.
    • Why go: Children under the age of 2, along with their caretakers, can sit in for storytime with a librarian and Cocoa Moose. Note: You can register at the Children's Room desk for a four-week session.
    • Pricing: Free.
  • Public Skating
    • Where/When: , 101 Montvale Ave., Stoneham on March 6 from 4-5:50 p.m.
    • Why go: Skating is a great way for families to enjoy a wintertime activity together.
    • Pricing: $4 per adult, $3 for children age 16 and younger. Note: Rentals are not available so you'll need to bring your own skates.
  • Sing-A-Longs With Peter Sheridan
    • Where/When: , 64 Middlesex Ave., Reading on March 4 from 10:15-10:45 a.m. 
    • Why go: Kids can participate in the fun by singing with Sheridan, who also will be playing his guitar and harmonica during the event. Infants and toddlers can attend the event with their caretakers. Note: All strollers must be left outside the building to comply with the town's fire code.
    • Pricing: Free.
