Somerville Teacher, of Stoneham, Indicted, Allegedly Had Sexual Relationship with Student

A 41-year-old teacher at the East Somerville Community School has been indicted on charges related to her alleged sexual relationship with a 13-year-old student.

Alexandra Romanos, who was arrested in early July, was indicted on the follow charges: aggravated rape of a child (four counts), indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 by a mandated reporter (eight counts) and disseminating material harmful to a minor, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

Romanos, a fifth-grade teacher, lives in Stoneham. She has been placed on administrative leave from the East Somerville Community School, a K-8 public school on Cross Street in Somerville.

Romanos is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Wednesday morning, Aug. 13, at Woburn Superior Court.

According to authorities, Romanos initiated the sexual relationship with the student in late February, and the relationship occurred on and off school grounds.
