State Police Investigate Report Of Gunshot Near Stoneham High

The Massachusetts State Police investigated a report of a gunshot sound around Stoneham High School Wednesday afternoon and for a brief time the school was put into lock down.

The State Police said on Twitter that a search of the area, including woods near the school, revealed nothing. Their investigation is ongoing but thus far a gunshot has not been not confirmed. Stoneham High is located on Franklin Street.

Channel 5 reported Wednesday night that a Malden man was arrested for discharging a handgun.
