Stoneham Alliance Against Violence Partners with Wakefield & Melrose

Stoneham Alliance Against Violence (SAAV) recently announced a new partnership, “Step Up: Men Against Violence” initiative with the Melrose and Wakefield Communities. The men’s group kicked off on Thursday, August 24th with a kickball tournament hosted in Melrose.

Players from all three communities joined in for an opening welcome from the newly hired Men4MAAV Coordinator, John Spinelli, a friendly game of kickball, and refreshments after the game. Local law enforcement, community members, and youth all joined in to support the cause. The alliances would like to thank Lisa’s Pizzeria of Melrose for generously donating the pizza and for everyone who joined in to play this August.

“It was inspiring to see such a great turnout as we continue to raise awareness for domestic violence in our communities. We are grateful for our partnership with Melrose and Wakefield and the ability to join forces on important initiatives like these and look forward to partnering as the Men Against Violence group continues to grow,” said Megan Samborski, Chair of Stoneham Alliance Against Violence.

The new men’s group is partnered with the Melrose group Men4MAAV in an effort to engage men and boys in violence prevention. The mission is to develop a network of individuals and organizations to work with men and boys to promote and cultivate a culture of gender equality, mutual respect, and healthy relationships.
