Stoneham CDC Donates Bike Racks to Stoneham Public Library
Stoneham CDC and the Stoneham Bike and Greenway Committee identified secure bike racks as a community goal.
A release from the Stoneham Community Development Corporation:
The Stoneham Community Development Corporation (CDC) and the Trustees of the Stoneham
Public Library are delighted to announce the donation and installation of two bike racks at the
entrance of the Stoneham Public Library.
Using funds from a generous grant from StonehamBank and donations to their community
fundraising campaign, the CDC purchased the royal blue, book-shaped “READ” bike racks and
donated them to the library.

Both the Stoneham CDC and the Stoneham Bike and Greenway Committee identified secure
bike racks as a community goal. "When the Bike and Greenway Committee surveyed Stoneham
residents about bike racks in the community, the library was listed as one of the highest
priorities. We are thrilled to have fulfilled a need for bike racks at the library," said Joan Lemire,
President of Stoneham CDC and Secretary of the Bike and Greenway Committee.
The Stoneham CDC will continue Phase 1 of the Bike Racks for Stoneham Project this summer
with the installation of a custom-designed rack for the Town Common. To learn more about or
donate to the project, go their website.

The Stoneham CDC is a group dedicated to increasing the community well-being of Stoneham,
MA by undertaking community development projects, special events, and supporting long-term
planning. We grew out of the Stoneham Town Center Action Plan developed for the Town of
Stoneham by the MAPC (Metropolitan Area Planning Council) in 2014. The CDC works to
promote Stoneham and its amenities to a wider audience. We are now pursuing a number of
projects including building a loop trail around Spot Pond, bike parking at the library and other
key locations around town, increasing the number of cultural events for residents and visitors,
and more transportation improvements.
