Stoneham Fire Log: Firefighters Tend to Downed Wire Calls During Hurricane Irene

The Stoneham Fire Department fielded 17 calls for wires down in town on Aug. 28 during the storm.

The  responded to 71 calls for service, up two from the previous week, from August 22-28.

Aid requests (21 calls) topped the list of calls fielded by the department, followed by wires down (20), box alarms (eight) and motor vehicle crashes with six. Stoneham firefighters also provided mutual aid to , and  on Aug. 22.

August 28 was the busiest day of the week for firefighters, as they responded to 26 calls for service; 17 of which were for wires down during Hurricane Irene.
