Stoneham Man Accused of Pulling Knife on Boston Police Officer

Jonathan Colleran, 29, will be charged with assault and battery on a police officer after allegedly pulling a knife on a Boston Police Officer Sunday morning, according to the Boston Police Department News website.

A Stoneham man who allegedly pulled a knife on a Boston Police Officer Sunday morning in the State Street area will be charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon, according to the Boston Police Department News website.

Jonathan Colleran, 29, of Stoneham is expected to be charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon and resisting arrest, while his alleged accomplice Jenna Ciampa, 27, of Stoneham, will be charged with assault and battery on a police officer, BPDNews reports.

About 1:45 a.m. Sunday, a Boston Police Officer was called to a local night club on State Street following a report of a violent male who had just punched another man in the face.

The suspects fled as the officer approached them, according to BPDNews reports. As the suspects walked onto Chatham Street toward State Street, the officer called to them and ordered them to stop, but the suspects allegedly refused and continued walking in the direction of State Street.

When the officer caught up with the suspects, Colleran allegedly became very aggressive and shoved the officer. A struggle ensued and while attempting to place the male suspect in custody, Colleran produced a small folding pocket knife which was opened, BPDNews reports.

While the officer struggled with Colleran, Ciampa allegedly jumped on the officer's back, according to BPDNews report. A civilian observing what was happening provided assistance to the officer, and both suspects were arrested and the knife recovered.  

It is unclear when the pair will appear in court.
