Stoneham Mother-Daughter Duo Raises Alzheimer's Awareness

Maureen Comito and her daughter Morgan collectively raised almost $10,000 for the event this year for their team A Ride Down Memory Lane.

STONEHAM, MA - Maureen Comito of Stoneham, will bike 62 miles in the 2016 Ride to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, June 11 in Rye, NH and she’ll have a special cheerleader on volunteering along the route – her 12-year-old daughter Morgan.

When Maureen joined the Ride to End Alzheimer's five years ago, her mother Julieanne was battling Alzheimer's. That year, at just 7-years-old, Morgan decided to hold a lemonade stand to help Maureen raise money for the event. Morgan looked forward to going to the Ride each year to cheer on her mother. In 2015, Morgan joined the event as a volunteer and looks forward to helping again this year.

"I watched my grandmother suffer and recently pass from Alzheimer’s,” said Morgan who lost her grandmother in March. “My whole life, she had been sick. I didn't get to know her very well because of Alzheimer's and I wish I got to know her even better.”
