Stoneham One Win From A State Title
Spartans head to TD Garden and matchup with Plymouth South Sunday.

One game, one opponent and 45 minutes. That's all that separates Stoneham from a Division 2 state hockey championship.
The Spartans head to TD Garden Sunday for a 3:15 p.m. matchup with South champion Plymouth South. It's one of six state championship games at the home of the Bruins, with two girls' games and four boys' games, finishing up with the Division 1 contest at 7:45 p.m.
Plymouth South (19-3-2) entered the tournament as the No. 3 seed and proceeded to beat Quincy, 3-1; Medway, 2-1; Canton, 5-3; and in the title game, Medfield, 6-3. The Panthers would love to part of a Patriot League sweep. Unbeaten Hanover, which is playing for the Division 3 title at 11 a.m., won the Patriot Fisher Division title with Plymouth South second.

As for Stoneham (18-4-2), the Spartans entered the North as the No. 2 seed and won three games, beating Tewksbury, 6-2; Pentucket, 5-2; and then Boston Latin in the title game, 2-1.

Division 1 Girls: Woburn vs Tewksbury/Methuen, 9 a.m.
Division 3 Boys: Hanover vs Shrewsbury, 11 a.m.
Division 2 Girls: Wellesley vs Canton, 1 p.m.
Division 2 Boys: Plymouth South vs Stoneham, 3:15
Division 1A: BC High vs Pope Francis, 5:45
Division 1 Boys: Waltham vs Marshfield, 7:45
And a word of warning to fans: Guests attending TD Garden events are advised that laptops, bags, backpacks, luggage, coolers, parcels, briefcases and like articles will be strictly prohibited from the facility. All guests may be subject to search of their person and/or possessions. Patrons with prohibited articles will be turned away and no storage or "check-in area" will be provided. Enforcement will be without exceptions.
