Stoneham Police Investigating Leads in Armed Robbery at Stop N Save
Detectives have some leads they're investigating and will be reviewing surveillance video from the Saturday night robbery at the convenience store, according to Stoneham Police Chief Richard Bongiorno.
Detectives are investigating some leads and plan to review surveillance video from the Saturday night at , according to Chief Richard Bongiorno.
As of Tuesday afternoon, no arrests or positive identifications of the gunman have been made, according to Bongiorno.
"We're reaching out to other communities to see if they've had similar activities, and we have some video but we've had some problems downloading (it)," Bongiorno said. "We think once we have video, we can send it through NEMLEC (North Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council) and see what we come up with. The suspect may have been in the store earlier, and we have a civilian witness that provided some information that corroborates what the store clerk told our officers."

Police were able to get a partial plate number on the suspect's vehicle.
"We'll run the numbers through RMV and see if they have any description of the car," Bongiorno said. "It could be a stolen plate, but we don’t know at this point. We have three numbers, so it's a bit of a lead."

Since the armed robbery, evening patrols have been increased at convenience stores in town located near Melrose, according to Bongiorno.
Police are currently searching looking for at least one man who reportedly robbed a convenience store on Franklin Street on April 14. Shortly after 8 p.m., officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at Stop N Save, 140 Franklin St.
“We got robbed by a gunman who I think robbed us two months ago,” according to a store clerk. “He (was) wearing a net-like mask.”
When the store was robbed earlier, the suspect was wearing a Joker mask, according to the clerk.
“It was him. I can tell," claimed the clerk. "The gun is the same, the height is the same (and) the voice was the same. We didn’t get the (license plate) number of the car, but it was the same (vehicle)."
The gunman, who stole an undisclosed amount of money and no products, reportedly fled in a dark-colored, possibly black, older Nissan Altima, according to police. The vehicle was last seen heading in the direction of Stoneham High School on Franklin Street Saturday night, according to the clerk.
The gunman was carrying a big pistol, according to the clerk, but he did not fire any rounds or injure anyone with it, as he followed the demands of the suspect.
The night of the robbery, three cruisers and three officers were on scene investigating the incident. They appeared to be talking with the clerk, looking at surveillance cameras and also used flashlights to check for any evidence that may have been left behind in the parking lot.
