Stoneham Rollover Traps Elderly Driver: Photos

The 79-year-old Saugus man was hospitalized after a bad crash Friday afternoon.

STONEHAM - A 79-year-old Saugus man was in a rollover crash Friday afternoon at the intersection of Summer and Pleasant streets, Stoneham fire and police chiefs announced.

The man was transported to Lahey Hospital and Medical Center with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Emergency responders reported to the rollover around 12:30 p.m. They found a 2014 Lexus, which was traveling south on Pleasant, and had veered off the road and struck a tree. The car rolled over onto its side on the sidewalk and trapped the driver inside.

Stoneham firefighters from Ladder 1 and Engine 2 extricated the man by removing the cracked windshield.

Pleasant Street was until about 1:30 p.m.
