Stoneham Rolls Into New Rock Climbing Gym

Central Rock Gym to open in 2018 for climbing enthusiasts.

You can hike in the Fells, kayak in Spot Pond, and run just about everywhere. Soon you can add one more thing to your Stoneham activity list: rock climbing.

The Northeast’s leading indoor rock climbing chain, Central Rock Gym (CRG), has entered into an agreement to build a new facility at 10 Adam Road in Stoneham. The location is a short distance behind the electronic ClearChannel advertising billboard on I-93 North just before the Montvale Ave exit.

CRG has leased approximately 16,000 square feet that includes a 45-foot tall, single-story (plus mezzanine) building. The location will feature climbing terrain as well as yoga and fitness areas. The gym could be ready as early as the spring but climbing will definitely start some time in 2018. CRG has received all their permits from the town, started site work, and construction is soon to follow.
