Stoneham School Building Committee Announces Next Step

Good news received from the Massachusetts School Building Committee

Stoneham, MA – At this week’s Stoneham School Building Committee (SSBC) meeting, Co-Chairs Marie Christie and David Bois announced that Stoneham has been invited by the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) to partner with the MSBA to conduct a Feasibility Study for Stoneham High School. The vote by MSBA at its October meeting was based on the town’s timely completion of requirements of the MSBA’s eligibility period.

In his letter to the Town of Stoneham, MSBA Executive Director John K. McCarthy stressed that the invitation to partner “is not approval of a project, but strictly an invitation to the town to work with the MSBA to explore potential solutions to problems that have been identified.”

In this next phase of the project, the town and the MSBA will collaborate to identify the most fiscally responsible and educationally appropriate solution to problems identified at Stoneham High School, through the implementation of a feasibility study conducted pursuant to the MSBA’s regulations and policies. The Committee will also work on procuring an Owner’s Project Manager and Designer as part of the feasibility process.
