Stoneham State Police Captain Arraigned in Lynn District Court
Thomas McCarthy, 47, was released on personal recognizance Wednesday and will reappear for a pre-trial hearing on motor vehicle-related offenses.

A suspended Stoneham State Police captain was arraigned in Lynn District Court Wednesday morning on charges of failing to stop for a police officer and a marked lanes violation, according to a press statement issued by the Office of Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett.
Judge Albert Conlon released Thomas McCarthy, 47, on personal recognizance and McCarthy will reappear in the Lynn court for a pre-trial hearing on Jan. 19, 2012.
McCarthy also has been cited for operating under the influence of liquor and for negligent operation of a motor vehicle, the statement reads. A clerk’s hearing is slated for Jan. 19, 2012, to determine whether a complaint will be filed on the charges.

McCarthy attempted to plead guilty Wednesday on the charge of failing to stop for a police officer as well as the marked lanes violation, but Essex Assistant District Attorney Susan Dolhun objected due to the pending clerk’s hearing.
McCarthy is represented by Attorney Daniel O’Malley of Quincy, the statement reads.
