STONEHAM YMCA CHILDCARE AND PROGRAM CENTER TO OFFER NEW COMMUNITY PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN

Stoneham – The Stoneham YMCA Childcare and Program Center, a branch of the YMCA of Metro North, has announced a new roster of youth enrichment programs and adult fitness classes that will be offered at its 39 Pleasant Street location. The Stoneham YMCA has also partnered with the Town of Stoneham to offer the community a new junior golf league and will be making the Y’s Stoneham facility available for birthday parties. The new programs come in direct response from requests from local families to offer more Y programming on-site.
“The Y’s Stoneham Childcare Center has been a part of the fabric of the community for 15 years, meeting the childcare needs of local families,” said Maureen McGurl, Executive Director at the Stoneham YMCA Childcare and Program Center. “Many of our families have expressed an interest in seeing the Y offer some additional programs here, so we’re bringing some of the Y’s most popular programs for adults and kids to Stoneham.”
Young golfers ages 9-14 will get the chance to play 9 holes of golf each week and learn the ins and outs of golf etiquette as part of the new Junior Golf League that begins on October 4th. The league will be held at the Stoneham Oaks Golf Course, a par 3, 9-hole golf course and participants must bring their own golf clubs. The league will meet Saturday mornings 10:00 – 12:00 AM and the fee for the four-week session is $70. Registration for the Junior Golf League is underway, so please stop by the Stoneham YMCA Childcare and Program Center or visit www.ymcametronorth.org to register.
