“The teachers and administrators who educated me in Stoneham did more than teach me what I ‘needed to know’ or what the test might include. They instilled an abiding love of learning, a profound intellectual curiosity, and most importantly, a strong sense of service and volunteerism,” Dalton remarked, adding that “Without the influence of amazing role models throughout my years in school, I never would have embarked on a career of public service.”
Dalton works at the Irish International Immigrant Center of Boston, a multi-service immigrant welcome center founded in 1989 to advocate a shared society where all people are welcomed and valued, and enjoy equal opportunities and protections. In his current role, he’s a member of the Learning Exchange Programs team, which works to provide opportunities for cultural exchange and on-the-job professional education for recent college graduates from Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Dalton, a current member of the Stoneham Finance and Advisory Board, feels that he can bring his experience in municipal finance to the School Committee, especially as Stoneham Public Schools and the Town of Stoneham face new financial challenges regarding teacher staffing, technology upgrades, and most crucially, Stoneham High School facilities renovations and upgrades. At the same time, his personal proximity to the student experience, as a 2013 SHS graduate, gives him a unique perspective on student needs and priorities, to help ensure that Stoneham’s curricula and services meet the expectations and aspirations of Stoneham’s students and citizens.
