UMass Dartmouth Overdose Victim from Stoneham

Officials have not identified the name of the victim, but have revealed that he is a 20-year-old Stoneham man.

STONEHAM, MA—UMass Dartmouth has identified the victim of a suspected drug overdose on UMass Dartmouth’s campus Friday as a Stoneham man.

UMass Dartmouth spokesman John Hoey confirmed with Patch that the victim of Friday’s tragic events was a 20-year-old UMass Dartmouth student from Stoneham.

Gregg Miliote, a spokesman for District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III told South Coast Today that the student was found near drug paraphernalia and a drug “appearing to be heroin.”

The cause of death is pending the results of a toxicology result and pending the test results of the substance which was near the student when he was found.

Patch attempted to contact the Bristol County District Attorney’s office, but the office was not available for comments.
