Violations Found at Five Massage and Bodywork Establishments
Three establishments were issued monetary fines, and two were issued advisories.
| Police Chief James McIntyre reports that the Stoneham Police Department, working in conjunction with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Professional Licensure, recently conducted inspections of five massage and bodywork establishments in town and found legal and/or code violations at all five locations. |
| The purpose of these regular compliance checks is to ensure businesses are being operated properly and not performing unlicensed or illegal services on clients. |

| After conducting the checks, three establishments were issued monetary fines, and two were issued advisories: |
Massage Envy, 79 Main St., -- Fined $100 for Failure to Post All Licenses
E-Bodywork, 139 Franklin St. -- Fined $1100 for Unlicensed Establishment, Unlicensed Practice, and Unlicensed Employee
Sunshine Spa and Massage, 451 Main St. -- Fined $800 for Unlicensed Employee, Obstructed Passageways, Unlicensed Practice, and Failure to Meet Sanitary Standards
Eastern Bodywork, 495 Main St. -- Issued an Advisory to Post all Licenses
Elements Massage, 200 Main St. -- Issued an Advisory to Post all Licenses and Warned to Retain all Past Inspection Reports on Site
| "The purposes of these checks is to ensure that customers are receiving massage and wellness-related services from properly licensed professionals at establishments that are safe and sanitary," Chief McIntyre said. "We will continue these checks on a regular basis to ensure that businesses are in compliance with the law." |
| Businesses have 21 days to respond to their notices of violation. If they do not, they face additional penalties. |
