We the People

September 17th is Constitution Day. Two hundred and twenty seven years ago 39 state delegates signed the U S Constitution

“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

These are the first words written of our Constitution. September 17th is Constitution Day (or Citizenship Day). On this day we recognize the adoption of the United States Constitution. Two hundred and twenty seven years ago our state delegates signed this document to create a protocol for all citizens to follow in pursuit of a positive quality of life for all residents of our country.

Now we as citizens in our community can celebrate this observance by attending the Zoning Board of Appeals Meeting at Stoneham Town Hall on the request of the Corcoran Group for a comprehensive permit at Weiss Farm.

We need to insure our domestic Tranquility and protect the general Welfare of all citizens of Stoneham from a development that infringes on our quality of life, violates our environment, encroaches our Wetlands, Intermittent Stream and harms the safety of school children traversing Franklin Street to attend Stoneham High School, KinderCare and other schools and daycares on intersecting streets. There are serious environmental issues, sewerage issues, sedimentation, water and erosion issues that need to be seriously reviewed with in depth analysis.

So far the Corcoran Group has not come to the table and sat with the officials in Stoneham to develop in good faith a viable plan that would appeal to all parties.

We need to show this developer how serious we are about our town and concerns and need to come out in “HUGE ATTENDANCE” to all meetings in reference to this development. Possibly the developer will either withdraw his petition or be forced to sit down and create a development that fits the characteristics and topography of our town and is pleasing to the landscape and beneficial to all. Come and celebrate Constitution Day and recognize your citizenship with attending September 17th meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeals at Stoneham Town Hall.
