Wilmington Survives Late Threat From Stoneham [PHOTOS]
Spartans baseball threatens in the top of the seventh, but can't push home tying run in 3-2 road loss.
The top of the seventh inning began promisingly on Friday for the baseball team, but the game ended with frustration after the Spartans failed to capitalize on two straight walks to start the frame.
Wilmington reliever John Keough walked the first two batters of the frame, but then notched the first out of the inning on a sacrifice bunt, and stranded two runners in scoring position to polish off the 3-2 win with two straight strikeouts.
After falling behind 2-0 in the opening inning, Stoneham scored twice on wild pitches. The second run was scored by Ben Allen, who ran home to tie the game in the top of the third.

But Wilmington took the lead back in the home half of the inning and never let up, dropping the Spartans to 1-4 on the year.
"We have to swing the bats and be more aggressive at the plate," said Stoneham coach Kevin Yianacopolus. "The little things we have down, but the rest of the things we need to work on."
