LOCKED UP FOR CHARITY: On May 2, 2012, community leaders from the towns of Stoughton, Canton, and Sharon, will be going behind bars for “GOOD” as MDA’s Most Wanted Heroes!
These business and community leaders have been accused of having a big heart and have been sentenced to serve one hour at to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which will go towards services for local individuals affected with neuromuscular diseases.
Jailbirds will be picked up at work by our Friendly Arresting Officers who are volunteering from local police and fire departments such as: Massachusetts State Police, the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Dept., and Stoughton Fire.

Dick Phillips and Kerry Hughes of the Town Spa will be co-hosting the benefit event for the second time. In 2010, the Cinco De Mayo Lock-Up at Town Spa raised $47,000 for the local MDA office.
This year’s event will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1119 Washington Street in Stoughton. Town Spa will provide complimentary “bread and water”, (A/K/A their famous pizza) to participants as they serve their time in the "cell block."

Businesses teaming up on May 2nd to fight muscle diseases will be from companies such as JC Higgins, Cromwell Consulting, Citizen’s Bank, B & D Automotive, Stoughton Fire Department, Town of Stoughton, Stoughton Patch, and the Stoughton Superintendent’s Office.
They will be teaming up to help the event reach it’s goal of raising over $50,000! If you know someone who is a jailbird and want to help bail them out to make a difference for MDA, contact the MDA office at 508-821-1533 or stop by the event at Town Spa from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. and help them reach their goal!

COMMENT PERIOD OPEN: Draft Community Preservation Plan Available for Review and Comment - The Community Preservation Committee would like to thank all those that participated at the to assist in developing a Plan for the Community Preservation Committee.
The plan is now completed and in draft form for public review and comment. To view the plan on line, go to the town website: http://www.stoughton.org/ - Boards/Commissions and click Community Preservation.
Printed Copies are available to be reviewed at the Stoughton Library, Town Clerk's office, Senior Center and the Historical Society.
