STOUGHTON, MA — Drivers will soon see new traffic control at a busy Stoughton intersection.
The town plans to construct a four-way stop at the intersection of Pleasant and Lincoln Streets over about two weeks, Stoughton officials announced Thursday. The work is expected to be completed by Oct. 19.
The improvements are expected to include four flashing stop signs and flashing advance warning signs on all four approaches to the intersection. Crews will also install new pavement markings and build a raised island at the southwest corner near Jimmy's Market.
A regional transportation study identified the intersection as a high-crash location and found that it met the requirements for an all-way stop. The intersection had the highest crash rate along the Route 139 corridor, according to a 2024 study by the Old Colony Planning Council.
