Cigarette Leads Year-Old Stoughton Investigation to Weymouth Man

STOUGHTON, MA — If it wasn't for a cigarette found at the scene of an alleged Stoughton break-in, a Weymouth man may have avoided charges.
Glenn J. Legere, 37, of Weymouth, faces charges of breaking and entering into a building during the night for a felony, malicious destruction of property over $250, breaking into a depository, larceny over $250, possession of burglarious tools and conspiracy to commit a break-in, according to the Enterprise.
On July 5, 2015, police responded to a break-in at the New Store on the Block in Stoughton. Police say the suspect entered through the roof, hid in a refrigerator, and fled through a door. On the roof, police found a cigarette butt and tools.

Using the CODIS database, police matched the DNA on the cigarette to Legere.
Legere is currently serving time in a state prison. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

His girlfriend Joanna Boyer, 41, faces charges for being an accessory before and after the break-in.
