FBI Doubles Reward for Stoughton Bank Robbery Suspect

Investigators say the suspect robbed five banks in as many towns.

STOUGHTON, MA - The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Bank Robbery Task Force has doubled the reward for a suspect who robbed five banks, including one in Stoughton.

On Jan. 25 at 9:51 a.m., the suspect robbed South Shore Savings Bank on Turnpike Street. He is also wanted for bank robberies in Woburn, Arlington, Waltham, and Billerica.

In each of the robberies, the suspect wore a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, gloves, sunglasses, and a face mask. He used dark colored socks to cover his shoes. In each of the robberies, the suspect verbally demanded cash from the tellers and brandished a semi-automatic handgun before fleeing the bank on foot, according to the FBI.

“What’s most concerning to the FBI is the Incognito Bandit’s increasingly brazen and violent behavior,” FBI Boston head Harold H. Shaw said in a statement. “During his last few robberies, the suspect has directly threatened the tellers with a semi-automatic handgun. In the interest of public safety, we need anyone with information about this individual to contact us immediately. We want to put a stop to these robberies and prevent anyone from getting hurt.”

The suspect is believed to be an African-American male in his 20s. He is approximately 5’8” to 5’11” in height and has a slender build.
