STOUGHTON, MA — Firefighters from several communities battled a two-alarm fire at a house on Bay Road Wednesday night. Fire officials said the fire started around 6:15 p.m. in the 2000th block of the street.

Deputy Fire Chief Scott Breen said it took almost three hours to put out the fire because there weren't any fire hydrants on the street. Water tankers needed to be brought in from Canton and Sharon. Firefighters from Easton, Canton, Walpole and Sharon helped extinguish the flames while Randolph and Holbrook officials covered the station.

"It was a hard fire to put out with a lack of water and a long response time," Breen told Patch. "It had a good head start. The crews had to work really hard, and they all did a good job."
