Former Missy’s Puppy Land Owner Behind Bars in CT

Gloria Marriott (AKA Linda Snow), former owner of the now closed Missy's Puppy Land in Stoughton, is serving a nine-month sentence in Connecticut, but she'll do additional time in Massachusetts as well.

Gloria Marriott, the 63-year-old woman who operated under the alias of Linda Snow, accepted a plea offer in the late spring that netted her a nine-month prison sentence, which she is currently serving at York Correctional Institution in Niantic, CT, according to Jennifer B. Nowack, a Public Defender in Connecticut.

Marriott was accused of running a puppy mill from the home she rented on Oslo Street in Mystic, CT. The Groton, CT police seized five dogs in February, when Marriott was arrested. They have all since been adopted.

Marriott was originally charged in Connecticut with criminal impersonation, cruelty to animals and interfering with police. Police found five dogs in her home at 59 Oslo St. in Mystic suffering from various stages of neglect, according to the Groton Town Police report filed in New London Superior Court.

She had previously been charged with animal cruelty when operating Missy’s Puppy Land in Stoughton.

Marriott finally revealed her legal name—Gloria Marriott—during court proceedings, after doing business in Stoughton as Linda Snow and living in Connecticut under the name of Mary Howard.

She is not likely to get out of prison soon.

“There will be no early release because she had a detainer in Massachusetts,” said Nowack. “A warrant from Massachusetts has to be served before she can be released.”

Snow pleaded guilty to animal cruelty in Massachusetts after police and animal rescue workers raided a house in Randolph in 2008, and found more than 100 sick puppies and older dogs on the property, according to the Patriot Ledger.

Nowack says Marriott will face addition prison time in Massachusetts, but even that may not be the end of it.

Marriott — AKA Linda Snow, AKA Mary Howard — may also be subject to federal charges because she misrepresented who she was, using false names in both Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Nowack said Marriott, a Canadian national who has been living in the United States illegally for years, could face up to five years in prison if the feds decide to charge her.
