Historic Glover House to be Demolished
One of Stoughton's oldest structures is expected to be razed soon.

One of Stoughton’s three oldest structures will likely be demolished in the near future.
Building Commissioner Thomas McGrath told the Boston Globe that a demolition permit was issued for the Glover House at 480 Summer St. several weeks ago.
The Stoughton Historical Society and the local Historical Commission attempted to find an option for funding the preservation of the building, but the building did not qualify for state funds for preservation or protection.

The Historical Commission had reviewed the application for demolition and was able to delay destruction for six months before reaching an agreement that allowed the home’s owner to demolish the home if preservation funds could not be obtained by Dec. 31, 2014.
