MSBA Invites Stoughton School District into 'Capital Pipeline' for High School Building Project

The MSBA also invited the town to take part in a feasibility study for the project.

The Massachusetts School Building Authority on Wednesday voted to invite the Stoughton school district into the capital pipeline for the building of Stoughton High School, officials said.

The move indicates that efforts by local officials passed requirements of the “eligibility phase” ahead of schedule and could move on to a feasibility study, for which the MSBA also invited Stoughton to take part in on Wednesday.

Stoughton School officials released the following statement in response to the move on Wednesday:

“The schools owe a great debt to Ms. Deborah Sovinee, former member of the School Committee, who tirelessly guided the schools through the process over a period of three years. Without her countless hours of work, the town would never have gotten to this stage.

In addition, the Stoughton legislative delegation, Senator Joyce, Representative Galvin, and Representative Kafka worked without ceasing to ensure that Stoughton was invited into the MSBA process, and without them, we would not be in the Pipeline. Thanks also to the Stoughton Town Meeting, which in its wisdom overwhelmingly voted the money for the Feasibility Study two years ago. This demonstrated Stoughton’s commitment to the project, a commitment very important to the MSBA, which is looking to work with communities that are ready for the partnership. The feasibility study process can now go forward without delay.”
