While trying to hop a fence to escape police, Tyler Trowers reached for a gun in his pocket, according to Stoughton police.

STOUGHTON, MA — A North Attleboro man was arrested Thursday after reaching for a loaded gun while running from officers, according to police. Police were called to 7th Street for a disturbance, and as officers arrived, they saw Tyler Trowers, 24, backing out of a driveway. Police said they asked Trowers to get out of the car, but when he did, he ran away, jumped over a fence, and headed towards the woods.

"When he climbed over the fence he began to reach toward his pocket," Stoughton police said in a statement. "Officers gave chase and ultimately were forced to deploy their taser."

After using the stun gun to subdue Trowers, police said they found a loaded .45 caliber handgun in his pocket.
